How To Install dasm on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dasm on Kali Linux.
What is dasm
dasm is:
DASM is a versatile macro assembler with support for several 8-bit microprocessors including MOS 6502 & 6507; Motorola 6803, 68705, and 68HC11; Hitachi HD6303 (extended Motorola 6801) and Fairchild F8.
DASM boasts a number of features including:
- fast assembly
- supports several common 8 bit processor models
- takes as many passes as needed
- automatic checksum generation, special symbol ??…??
- several binary output formats available
- allows reverse indexed origins
- multiple segments, BSS segments (no generation), relocatable origin
- expressions, as in C
- 32-bit integer expressions
- no real limitation on label size
- complex pseudo-ops, repeat loops, macros
There are three methods to install dasm on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dasm Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dasm using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dasmInstall dasm Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dasm using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dasmInstall dasm Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install dasm using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dasmHow To Uninstall dasm on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the dasm package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dasmUninstall dasm And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dasm and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dasmRemove dasm Configurations and Data
To remove dasm configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dasmRemove dasm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dasm configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dasmDependencies
