How To Install darcs on Ubuntu 18.04

What is darcs
darcs is:
Darcs is a free, open source revision control system. It is:
- Distributed: Every user has access to the full command set, removing boundaries between server and client or committer and non-committers.
- Interactive: Darcs is easy to learn and efficient to use because it asks you questions in response to simple commands, giving you choices in your work flow. You can choose to record one change in a file, while ignoring another. As you update from upstream, you can review each patch name, even the full “diff” for interesting patches.
- Smart: Originally developed by physicist David Roundy, darcs is based on a unique algebra of patches. This smartness lets you respond to changing demands in ways that would otherwise not be possible.
There are three methods to install darcs on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install darcs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install darcs using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install darcs
Install darcs Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install darcs using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install darcs
Install darcs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install darcs using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install darcs
How To Uninstall darcs on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the darcs package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove darcs
Uninstall darcs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall darcs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove darcs
Remove darcs Configurations and Data
To remove darcs configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge darcs
Remove darcs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove darcs configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge darcs
