How To Install d-itg on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install d-itg on Debian 12.
What is d-itg
d-itg is:
D-ITG (Distributed Internet Traffic Generator) is a platform capable to produce traffic at packet level accurately replicating appropriate stochastic processes for both IDT (Inter Departure Time) and PS (Packet Size) random variables (exponential, uniform, cauchy, normal, pareto, …). D-ITG supports both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic generation and it is capable to generate traffic at network, transport, and application layer. We believe that D-ITG shows interesting properties when compared to other traffic generators.
There are three methods to install d-itg on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install d-itg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install d-itg using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install d-itg
Install d-itg Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install d-itg using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install d-itg
Install d-itg Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install d-itg using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install d-itg
How To Uninstall d-itg on Debian 12
To uninstall only the d-itg package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove d-itg
Uninstall d-itg And Its Dependencies
To uninstall d-itg and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove d-itg
Remove d-itg Configurations and Data
To remove d-itg configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge d-itg
Remove d-itg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
