How To Install crystal on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install crystal on Debian 12.
What is crystal

The Crystal’s language syntax is inspired by Ruby, the language is statically type-checked but does not require that the type of variables or method arguments be specified.
The language has the following goals: (1) have the same syntax as Ruby, or at least as similar as possible; (2) statically type-checked but without having to specify the type of variables or method arguments; (3) be able to call C code by writing bindings to it in Crystal; (4) have compile-time evaluation and generation of code, to avoid boilerplate code; (5) compile to efficient native code.
There are three methods to install crystal on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install crystal Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install crystal using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install crystal

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install crystal using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install crystal using aptitude by running the following command:

How To Uninstall crystal on Debian 12
To uninstall only the crystal package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove crystal
Uninstall crystal And Its Dependencies
To uninstall crystal and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove crystal
Remove crystal Configurations and Data
To remove crystal configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge crystal
