How To Install cruft on Kali Linux

What is cruft

cruft is:

cruft is a program to look over your system for anything that shouldn’t be there, but is; or for anything that should be there, but isn’t.

It bases most of its results on dpkg’s database, as well as a list of `extra files’ that can appear during the lifetime of various packages.

cruft is still in pre-release; your assistance in improving its accuracy and performance is appreciated.

There are three methods to install cruft on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install cruft Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install cruft using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install cruft

Install cruft Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install cruft using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install cruft

Install cruft Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install cruft using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install cruft

How To Uninstall cruft on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the cruft package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove cruft

Uninstall cruft And Its Dependencies

To uninstall cruft and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove cruft

Remove cruft Configurations and Data

To remove cruft configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge cruft

Remove cruft configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove cruft configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cruft
