How To Install cpulimit on Rocky Linux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install cpulimit
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is cpulimit
cpulimit is a simple program which attempts to limit the CPU usage of a process (expressed in percentage, not in CPU time). This is useful to control batch jobs, when you don’t want them to eat too much CPU. It does not act on the nice value or other scheduling priority stuff, but on the real CPU usage. Also, it is able to adapt itself to the overall system load, dynamically and quickly.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install cpulimit
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cpulimit.
Install cpulimit on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install cpulimit
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install cpulimit
Install cpulimit on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install cpulimit
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install cpulimit
How To Uninstall cpulimit on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the cpulimit
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove cpulimit
