Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install cppad-devel
on CentOS 7.
What is cppad-devel
We refer to the step by step conversion from an algorithm that computes function values to an algorithm that computes derivative values as Algorithmic Differentiation (often referred to as Automatic Differentiation.) Given a C++ algorithm that computes function values, cppad generates an algorithm that computes its derivative values. We can use yum
or dnf
to install cppad-devel
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cppad-devel.
Install cppad-devel on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install cppad-devel
using yum
by running the following command:

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
