What is cpanspec

cpanspec generates spec files (and, optionally, source or even binary packages) for Perl modules from CPAN for Fedora. The quality of the spec file is our primary concern. It is assumed that maintainers will need to do some (hopefully small) amount of work to clean up the generated spec file to make the package build and to verify that all of the information contained in the spec file is correct.

We can use yum or dnf to install cpanspec on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cpanspec.

Install cpanspec on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install cpanspec using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install cpanspec

Install cpanspec on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install cpanspec using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install cpanspec

How To Uninstall cpanspec on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the cpanspec package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove cpanspec
