How To Install courier-imap on Kali Linux

What is courier-imap
The Courier mail transfer agent (MTA) is an integrated mail/groupware server based on open commodity protocols, such as ESMTP, IMAP, POP3, LDAP, TLS, and HTTP. Courier provides ESMTP, IMAP, POP3, webmail, and mailing list services within a single, consistent, framework.
This package provides an IMAP server that accesses email stored in Maildirs format mailboxes. This server has an extremely small footprint and provides shared and virtual shared folders.
IMAP over TLS is handled by the regular IMAP daemon in conjunction with the TLS wrapper.
There are three ways to install courier-imap on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install courier-imap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install courier-imap using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install courier-imap
Install courier-imap Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install courier-imap using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install courier-imap
Install courier-imap Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install courier-imap using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install courier-imap
How To Uninstall courier-imap on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the courier-imap package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove courier-imap
Uninstall courier-imap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall courier-imap and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove courier-imap
Remove courier-imap Configurations and Data
To remove courier-imap configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge courier-imap
Remove courier-imap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove courier-imap configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge courier-imap
