How To Install corosync on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install corosync on Kali Linux.
What is corosync
corosync is:
The Corosync Cluster Engine is a Group Communication System with additional features for implementing high availability within applications. The project provides four C Application Programming Interface features:
- A closed process group communication model with virtual synchrony guarantees for creating replicated state machines.
- A simple availability manager that restarts the application process when it has failed.
- A configuration and statistics in-memory database that provide the ability to set, retrieve, and receive change notifications of information.
- A quorum system that notifies applications when quorum is achieved or lost.
This package contains the Corosync daemon and some administration tools.
There are three methods to install corosync on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install corosync Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install corosync using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install corosyncInstall corosync Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install corosync using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install corosyncInstall corosync Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install corosync using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install corosyncHow To Uninstall corosync on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the corosync package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove corosyncUninstall corosync And Its Dependencies
To uninstall corosync and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove corosyncRemove corosync Configurations and Data
To remove corosync configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge corosyncRemove corosync configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove corosync configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge corosyncDependencies
