How To Install conv-tools on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install conv-tools on Kali Linux.
What is conv-tools
The mixconv utility reads a mixed-encoding text file, analyzes each line to determine whether it is in 7-bit ASCII, an 8-bit encoding, UTF-8 or WTF-8, converts everything to UTF-8 and prints the result to standard output.
The dirconv utility scans a directory structure, analyzes each file and directory name to determine whether it is in 7-bit ASCII, an 8-bit encoding, UTF-8 or WTF-8, converts everything to UTF-8, and renames the files and directories accordingly.
There are three ways to install conv-tools on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install conv-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install conv-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install conv-tools
Install conv-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install conv-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install conv-tools
Install conv-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install conv-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install conv-tools
How To Uninstall conv-tools on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the conv-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove conv-tools
Uninstall conv-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall conv-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove conv-tools
Remove conv-tools Configurations and Data
To remove conv-tools configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge conv-tools
Remove conv-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove conv-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge conv-tools
