How To Install conky-all on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install conky-all on Kali Linux.
What is conky-all
conky-all is:
Conky is a system monitor that can display just about anything, either on your root desktop or in its own window. Conky has many built-in objects, as well as the ability to execute external programs or scripts (either external or through built-in Lua support).
This is a full conky with most compile options enabled:
X11, XDamage, XDBE, Xft, MPD, MOC, math, hddtemp, portmon, RSS, Weather, wireless, IBM, nvidia, eve-online, Imlib2, apcupsd, I/O stats, argb, Lua and the cairo and imlib2 Lua bindings, Audacious, XMMS2, PulseAudio, iCal, iconv, IRC, and systemd journal.
There are three methods to install conky-all on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install conky-all Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install conky-all using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install conky-allInstall conky-all Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install conky-all using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install conky-allInstall conky-all Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install conky-all using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install conky-allHow To Uninstall conky-all on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the conky-all package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove conky-allUninstall conky-all And Its Dependencies
To uninstall conky-all and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove conky-allRemove conky-all Configurations and Data
To remove conky-all configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge conky-allRemove conky-all configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove conky-all configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge conky-allDependencies
