How To Install confget on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install confget on Kali Linux.
What is confget
The confget utility examines a INI-style configuration file and retrieves the value of the specified variables from the specified section. Its intended use is to let shell scripts use the same INI-style configuration files as other programs, to avoid duplication of data.
The confget utility may retrieve the values of one or more variables, list all the variables in a specified section, list only those whose names or values match a specified pattern (shell glob or regular expression), or check if a variable is present in the file at all. It has a “shell-quoting” output mode that quotes the variable values in a way suitable for passing them directly to a Bourne-style shell.
There are three ways to install confget on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install confget Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install confget using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install confget
Install confget Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install confget using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install confget
Install confget Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install confget using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install confget
How To Uninstall confget on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the confget package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove confget
Uninstall confget And Its Dependencies
To uninstall confget and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove confget
Remove confget Configurations and Data
To remove confget configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge confget
