How To Install cmark on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install cmark on Kali Linux.
What is cmark
cmark is:
cmark is the C reference implementation of CommonMark, a rationalized version of Markdown syntax with a spec.
cmark parses almost as fast as sundown and hoedown (but safer and less buggy), about 3 times faster than discount, and about 100 times faster than kramdown and pandoc. Memory consumption is on par with sundown and about 10 times less than pandoc.
cmark outputs HTML, groff man, LaTeX, CommonMark, and a custom XML format.
Markdown is a lightweight markup language with plain-text-formatting syntax.
This package provides a command-line program (cmark) for parsing and rendering CommonMark documents.
There are three methods to install cmark on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cmark Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cmark using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cmarkInstall cmark Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cmark using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cmarkInstall cmark Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cmark using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cmarkHow To Uninstall cmark on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the cmark package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cmarkUninstall cmark And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cmark and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cmarkRemove cmark Configurations and Data
To remove cmark configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cmarkRemove cmark configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cmark configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cmarkDependencies
