How To Install cmark on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install cmark
on CentOS 7.
What is cmark
cmark
is the C reference implementation of CommonMark, a rationalized version of Markdown syntax with a spec. It provides a shared library (libcmark
) with functions for parsing CommonMark documents to an abstract syntax tree (AST), manipulating the AST, and rendering the document to HTML, groff man, LaTeX, CommonMark, or an XML representation of the AST. It also provides a command-line program (cmark
) for parsing and rendering CommonMark documents.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install cmark
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cmark.
Install cmark on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install cmark
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install cmark
Install cmark on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install cmark
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install cmark
How To Uninstall cmark on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the cmark
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove cmark
