How To Install clonezilla on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install clonezilla on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is clonezilla
clonezilla is:
Clonezilla is an OpenSource clone system (OCS) solution with unicasting and multicasting.
Clonezilla, based on drbl, partclone and udpcast, allows you to do bare metal backup and recovery. This package provides Clonezilla SE (server edition) which is for massive deployment: it can clone many (40 plus!) computers simultaneously.
Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the harddisk. This increases the clone efficiency. At the NCHC’s Classroom C, Clonezilla SE was used to clone 41 computers simultaneously. It took only about 10 minutes to clone a 5.6 GBytes system image to all 41 computers via multicasting.
There are three methods to install clonezilla on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install clonezilla Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install clonezilla using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install clonezilla
Install clonezilla Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install clonezilla using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install clonezilla
Install clonezilla Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install clonezilla using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install clonezilla
How To Uninstall clonezilla on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the clonezilla package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove clonezilla
Uninstall clonezilla And Its Dependencies
To uninstall clonezilla and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove clonezilla
Remove clonezilla Configurations and Data
To remove clonezilla configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge clonezilla
Remove clonezilla configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove clonezilla configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge clonezilla
