How To Install cl-unicode on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install cl-unicode
on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is cl-unicode
cl-unicode is:
CL-UNICODE is a library which provides Common Lisp implementations with knowledge about Unicode characters including their name, their general category, the scripts and blocks they belong to, their numerical value, and several other properties. It also provides the ability to replace the standard syntax for reading Lisp characters with one that is Unicode-aware and is used to enhance CL-PPCRE with Unicode properties.
CL-UNICODE is based on Unicode 5.1.
There are three methods to install cl-unicode
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cl-unicode Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install cl-unicode
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cl-unicode
Install cl-unicode Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install cl-unicode
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cl-unicode
Install cl-unicode Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install cl-unicode
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cl-unicode
How To Uninstall cl-unicode on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the cl-unicode
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cl-unicode
Uninstall cl-unicode And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cl-unicode
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cl-unicode
Remove cl-unicode Configurations and Data
To remove cl-unicode
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cl-unicode
Remove cl-unicode configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cl-unicode
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cl-unicode
