How To Install cinder-api on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install cinder-api on Kali Linux.
What is cinder-api
cinder-api is:
Cinder is a block Storage-as-a-Service system for the OpenStack cloud computing suite. It re-implements the features of Nova-volume, which it directly replaces.
Cinder uses LVM partitions of your volume servers in order to provide iSCSI permanent block storage devices for your virtual machines running on Nova. It also has back-end drivers for many hardware and software storage solutions like Ceph, NFS, Net-APP, etc.
This package contains the Cinder API server.
There are three methods to install cinder-api on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cinder-api Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cinder-api using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cinder-apiInstall cinder-api Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cinder-api using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cinder-apiInstall cinder-api Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cinder-api using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cinder-apiHow To Uninstall cinder-api on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the cinder-api package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cinder-apiUninstall cinder-api And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cinder-api and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cinder-apiRemove cinder-api Configurations and Data
To remove cinder-api configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cinder-apiRemove cinder-api configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cinder-api configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cinder-apiDependencies
