How To Install chemeq on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install chemeq on Kali Linux.
What is chemeq
chemeq is:
chemeq is a basic standalone filter written in C language, flex and bison. It inputs strings like: 2H2 + O2 —> 2 H2O then it outputs LaTeX code and messages about the equilibrium of a chemical reaction.
example:~/src$ echo “2H2 + O2 —> 2 H2O” | chemeq -lc 2,H_{2},+,O_{2},\rightarrow,2,H_{2}O OK
There are three methods to install chemeq on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install chemeq Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install chemeq using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install chemeqInstall chemeq Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install chemeq using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install chemeqInstall chemeq Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the chemeq package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove chemeqUninstall chemeq And Its Dependencies
To uninstall chemeq and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove chemeqRemove chemeq Configurations and Data
To remove chemeq configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge chemeqRemove chemeq configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove chemeq configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
