CGDB is a curses-based interface to the GNU Debugger (GDB). The goal of CGDB is to be lightweight and responsive; not encumbered with unnecessary features. The interface is designed to deliver the familiar GDB text interface, with a split screen showing the source as it executes. The UI is modeled on the classic Unix text editor, vi. Those familiar with vi should feel right at home using CGDB.

We can use yum or dnf to install cgdb on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install cgdb.

Install cgdb on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install cgdb using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install cgdb

Install cgdb on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install cgdb using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install cgdb

How To Uninstall cgdb on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the cgdb package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove cgdb
