How To Install certmonger on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install certmonger
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is certmonger
certmonger is:
Certmonger is a D-Bus -based service which attempts to simplify interaction with certifying authorities (CAs) on networks which use public-key infrastructure (PKI).
If it knows the location of a certificate, certmonger can track the expiration date and notify you when the certificate is about to expire.
If it has access to the corresponding private key and information about the CA which issued the certificate, certmonger can even attempt to automatically obtain a new certificate.
Supports certificate and key storage in PEM or NSSDB formats.
Can self-sign certificates, or can submit them to either certmaster or development versions of IPA.
There are three methods to install certmonger
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install certmonger Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install certmonger
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install certmonger
Install certmonger Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install certmonger
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install certmonger
Install certmonger Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install certmonger
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install certmonger
How To Uninstall certmonger on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the certmonger
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove certmonger
Uninstall certmonger And Its Dependencies
To uninstall certmonger
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove certmonger
Remove certmonger Configurations and Data
To remove certmonger
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge certmonger
Remove certmonger configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove certmonger
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge certmonger
