How To Install ceph-fuse on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ceph-fuse on Kali Linux.
What is ceph-fuse
ceph-fuse is:
Ceph is a distributed network file system designed to provide excellent performance, reliability, and scalability. This is a FUSE-based client that allows one to mount a Ceph file system without root privileges.
Because the FUSE-based client has certain inherent performance limitations, it is recommended that the native Linux kernel client be used if possible. If it is not practical to load a kernel module (insufficient privileges, older kernel, etc.), then the FUSE client will do.
There are three methods to install ceph-fuse on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ceph-fuse Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ceph-fuse using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ceph-fuseInstall ceph-fuse Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ceph-fuse using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ceph-fuseInstall ceph-fuse Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ceph-fuse using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ceph-fuseHow To Uninstall ceph-fuse on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ceph-fuse package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ceph-fuseUninstall ceph-fuse And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ceph-fuse and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ceph-fuseRemove ceph-fuse Configurations and Data
To remove ceph-fuse configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ceph-fuseRemove ceph-fuse configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ceph-fuse configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ceph-fuseDependencies
