How To Install cdde on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install cdde on Kali Linux.
What is cdde
cdde is:
CDDE is a program that detects when a CD/DVD-ROM drive has a disc inserted. When it finds a disc inserted in the drive it will attempt to determine the type of the disc, and execute a specified command. This means a DVD can be inserted and your favorite DVD software will start, or a data CD can be automatically mounted, etc. The commands are defined in a configuration file that has simple XML syntax.
There are three methods to install cdde on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cdde Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cdde using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cddeInstall cdde Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cdde using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cddeInstall cdde Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cdde using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cddeHow To Uninstall cdde on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the cdde package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cddeUninstall cdde And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cdde and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cddeRemove cdde Configurations and Data
To remove cdde configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cddeRemove cdde configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cdde configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cddeDependencies
