How To Install cat-bat on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install cat-bat on Kali Linux.
What is cat-bat
cat-bat is:
Contig Annotation Tool (CAT) and Bin Annotation Tool (BAT) are pipelines for the taxonomic classification of long DNA sequences and metagenome assembled genomes (MAGs/bins) of both known and (highly) unknown microorganisms, as generated by contemporary metagenomics studies. The core algorithm of both programs involves gene calling, mapping of predicted ORFs against the nr protein database, and voting-based classification of the entire contig / MAG based on classification of the individual ORFs. CAT and BAT can be run from intermediate steps if files are formatted appropriately.
There are three methods to install cat-bat on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cat-bat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cat-bat using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cat-batInstall cat-bat Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cat-bat using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cat-batInstall cat-bat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install cat-bat using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cat-batHow To Uninstall cat-bat on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the cat-bat package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cat-batUninstall cat-bat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cat-bat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cat-batRemove cat-bat Configurations and Data
To remove cat-bat configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cat-batRemove cat-bat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cat-bat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
