How To Install carla-data on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install carla-data on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is carla-data
carla-data is:
Carla is an audio plugin host, with support for many audio drivers and plugin formats. It has some nice features like automation of parameters via MIDI CC and full OSC control. Currently supports LADSPA, DSSI, LV2, VST2/3 and AU plugin formats, plus SF2 and SFZ sounds banks.
This package contains common non-binary data.
There are three methods to install carla-data on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install carla-data Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install carla-data using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install carla-data
Install carla-data Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install carla-data using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install carla-data
Install carla-data Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install carla-data using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install carla-data
How To Uninstall carla-data on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the carla-data package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove carla-data
Uninstall carla-data And Its Dependencies
To uninstall carla-data and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove carla-data
Remove carla-data Configurations and Data
To remove carla-data configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge carla-data
Remove carla-data configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove carla-data configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge carla-data
