How To Install calc on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install calc on Kali Linux.
What is calc
calc is:
Calc is an arbitrary precision arithmetic system that uses a C-like language. Calc is useful as a calculator, an algorithm prototyper and as a mathematical research tool. More importantly, calc provides one with a machine independent means of computation. Calc comes with a rich set of builtin mathematical and programmatic functions.
Calc is built on top of the library libcalc that represents numeric values as fractions reduced to their lowest terms. This library can also be used to add arbitrary precision capabilities to your own programs and is available in the Debian package `calc-dev'.
Previously, this package was named apcalc' in Debian due to a name collision. However, the previous calc’ Debian package vanished long ago,
so apcalc' was renamed back to calc’ to match the upstream name.
There are three methods to install calc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install calc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install calc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install calcInstall calc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install calc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install calcInstall calc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install calc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install calcHow To Uninstall calc on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the calc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove calcUninstall calc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall calc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove calcRemove calc Configurations and Data
To remove calc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge calcRemove calc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove calc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge calcDependencies
