How To Install ca-certificates on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ca-certificates
on Kali Linux.
What is ca-certificates
ca-certificates is:
Contains the certificate authorities shipped with Mozilla’s browser to allow SSL-based applications to check for the authenticity of SSL connections.
Please note that Debian can neither confirm nor deny whether the certificate authorities whose certificates are included in this package have in any way been audited for trustworthiness or RFC 3647 compliance. Full responsibility to assess them belongs to the local system administrator.
There are three methods to install ca-certificates
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ca-certificates Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ca-certificates
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ca-certificates
Install ca-certificates Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ca-certificates
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ca-certificates
Install ca-certificates Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ca-certificates
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ca-certificates
How To Uninstall ca-certificates on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ca-certificates
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ca-certificates
Uninstall ca-certificates And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ca-certificates
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ca-certificates
Remove ca-certificates Configurations and Data
To remove ca-certificates
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ca-certificates
Remove ca-certificates configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ca-certificates
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ca-certificates
