How To Install bzip2 on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install bzip2 on Kali Linux.
What is bzip2
bzip2 is:
bzip2 is a freely available, patent free, data compressor.
bzip2 compresses files using the Burrows-Wheeler block-sorting text compression algorithm, and Huffman coding. Compression is generally considerably better than that achieved by more conventional LZ77/LZ78-based compressors, and approaches the performance of the PPM family of statistical compressors.
The archive file format of bzip2 (.bz2) is incompatible with that of its predecessor, bzip (.bz).
There are three methods to install bzip2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bzip2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install bzip2 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bzip2Install bzip2 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install bzip2 using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the bzip2 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bzip2Uninstall bzip2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bzip2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bzip2Remove bzip2 Configurations and Data
To remove bzip2 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bzip2Remove bzip2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bzip2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
