What is burp-server

Burp is a network backup and restore program, using client and server. It uses librsync in order to save network traffic and to save on the amount of space that is used by each backup. It also uses VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) to make snapshots when backing up Windows computers.

We can use yum or dnf to install burp-server on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install burp-server.

Install burp-server on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install burp-server using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install burp-server

Install burp-server on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install burp-server using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install burp-server

How To Uninstall burp-server on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the burp-server package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove burp-server
