What is buildd

buildd is:

The sbuild suite of programs (buildd and sbuild) are used to build binary packages from source packages. The wanna-build database tracks packages which require building; buildd schedules work from information it gets from the wanna-build database; sbuild does the actual package building.

buildd is a daemon which will build Debian packages automatically using the wanna-build database to identify which packages need to be built. Note that the wanna-build database is not packaged, and requires installing separately.

There are three methods to install buildd on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install buildd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install buildd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install buildd

Install buildd Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install buildd using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install buildd

Install buildd Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install buildd using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install buildd

How To Uninstall buildd on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the buildd package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove buildd

Uninstall buildd And Its Dependencies

To uninstall buildd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove buildd

Remove buildd Configurations and Data

To remove buildd configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge buildd

Remove buildd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove buildd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge buildd
