How To Install buffy on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install buffy on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is buffy
buffy is:
Buffy is a program that displays a compact summary of your mail folders, and allows one to invoke a command (usually a mail reader) on them. It is written with the intent of being a handy everyday tool for people handling large volumes of mail. For mutt users, this can be a nice front-end to supplement the simple built-in folder browser when one has many folders to keep track of.
Buffy tries hard to work out of the box: it looks for mail folders in sensible places and comes with reasonable defaults.
The program is functional but still very young, and only Maildir and Mailbox format are supported at the moment.
There are three methods to install buffy on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install buffy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install buffy using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install buffy
Install buffy Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install buffy using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install buffy
Install buffy Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install buffy using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install buffy
How To Uninstall buffy on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the buffy package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove buffy
Uninstall buffy And Its Dependencies
To uninstall buffy and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove buffy
Remove buffy Configurations and Data
To remove buffy configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge buffy
Remove buffy configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove buffy configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge buffy
