How To Install buffer on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install buffer
on Kali Linux.
What is buffer
buffer is:
Buffer implements double buffering and can be used to keep backup tapes streaming or printers printing. It can also be used to convert a data stream to a given output blocksize.
Buffer uses shared memory to convert a variable input data rate to a constant output data rate. It is typically used in a pipe between a backup program and the tape device, but there are also other applications like buffering printer data in lpd’s input filter.
There are three methods to install buffer
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install buffer Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install buffer
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install buffer

using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install buffer
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install buffer
Install buffer Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install buffer
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install buffer
How To Uninstall buffer on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the buffer
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove buffer
Uninstall buffer And Its Dependencies
To uninstall buffer
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove buffer
Remove buffer Configurations and Data
To remove buffer
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge buffer

We can use the following command to remove buffer
