In this tutorial we learn how to install brotli on CentOS 7.
What is brotli
Brotli is a generic-purpose lossless compression algorithm that compresses data using a combination of a modern variant of the LZ77 algorithm, Huffman coding and 2nd order context modeling, with a compression ratio comparable to the best currently available general-purpose compression methods. It is similar in speed with deflate but offers more dense compression.
We can use yum or dnf to install brotli on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install brotli.
Install brotli on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install brotli using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install brotli
Install brotli on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install brotli using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install brotli
How To Uninstall brotli on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the brotli package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove brotli
