How To Install brltty-espeak on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install brltty-espeak
on Kali Linux.
What is brltty-espeak
BRLTTY is a daemon which provides access to the Linux console (text mode) for a blind person using a braille display. It drives the braille display and provides complete screen review functionality.
This package contains an optional speech driver for the espeak speech synthesis engine.
There are three ways to install brltty-espeak
on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install brltty-espeak Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install brltty-espeak
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install brltty-espeak
Install brltty-espeak Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install brltty-espeak
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install brltty-espeak
Install brltty-espeak Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install brltty-espeak
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install brltty-espeak
How To Uninstall brltty-espeak on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the brltty-espeak
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove brltty-espeak
Uninstall brltty-espeak And Its Dependencies
To uninstall brltty-espeak
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove brltty-espeak
Remove brltty-espeak Configurations and Data
To remove brltty-espeak
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge brltty-espeak
Remove brltty-espeak configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove brltty-espeak
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge brltty-espeak
