BRLTTY is a background process (daemon) which provides access to the Linux/Unix console (when in text mode) for a blind person using a refreshable braille display. It drives the braille display and provides complete screen review functionality. We can use yum or dnf to install brltty on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install brltty.
Install brltty on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install brltty using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install brltty
Install brltty on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install brltty using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install brltty
How To Uninstall brltty on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the brltty package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove brltty
