How To Install bpfcc-introspection on Ubuntu 22.04

What is bpfcc-introspection
bpfcc-introspection is:
BPF Compiler Collection (BCC) is a toolkit for creating efficient kernel tracing and manipulation programs
It makes use of extended BPF (Berkeley Package Filter) and provides tools for BPF based Linux IO analysis, networking, monitoring and more
This package provides tools to introspect BPF programs. Currently following programs are provided as part of this package.
- bps: Lists all BPF programs loaded into the kernel.
psfor BPF programs
There are three methods to install bpfcc-introspection on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bpfcc-introspection Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bpfcc-introspection using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bpfcc-introspection
Install bpfcc-introspection Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bpfcc-introspection using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bpfcc-introspection
Install bpfcc-introspection Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bpfcc-introspection using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bpfcc-introspection
How To Uninstall bpfcc-introspection on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the bpfcc-introspection package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bpfcc-introspection
Uninstall bpfcc-introspection And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bpfcc-introspection and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bpfcc-introspection
Remove bpfcc-introspection Configurations and Data
To remove bpfcc-introspection configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bpfcc-introspection
Remove bpfcc-introspection configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bpfcc-introspection configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bpfcc-introspection
