How To Install boxshade on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install boxshade on Kali Linux.
What is boxshade
boxshade is:
Boxshade is a program for creating good looking printouts from multiple-aligned protein or DNA sequences. The program does not perform the alignment by itself and requires as input a file that was created by a multiple alignment program or manually edited with respective tools.
Boxshade reads multiple-aligned sequences from either PILEUP-MSF, CLUSTAL-ALN, MALIGNED-data and ESEE-save files (limited to a maximum of 150 sequences with up to 10000 elements each). Various kinds of shading can be applied to identical/similar residues. Output is written to screen or to a file in the following formats: ANSI/VT100, PS/EPS, RTF, HPGL, ReGIS, LJ250-printer, ASCII, xFIG, PICT, HTML
There are three methods to install boxshade on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install boxshade Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install boxshade using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install boxshadeInstall boxshade Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install boxshade using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install boxshadeInstall boxshade Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install boxshade using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install boxshadeHow To Uninstall boxshade on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the boxshade package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove boxshadeUninstall boxshade And Its Dependencies
To uninstall boxshade and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove boxshadeRemove boxshade Configurations and Data
To remove boxshade configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge boxshadeRemove boxshade configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove boxshade configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge boxshadeDependencies
