How To Install bowtie2 on Kali Linux

What is bowtie2
bowtie2 is:
is an ultrafast and memory-efficient tool for aligning sequencing reads to long reference sequences. It is particularly good at aligning reads of about 50 up to 100s or 1,000s of characters, and particularly good at aligning to relatively long (e.g. mammalian) genomes.
Bowtie 2 indexes the genome with an FM Index to keep its memory footprint small: for the human genome, its memory footprint is typically around 3.2 GB. Bowtie 2 supports gapped, local, and paired-end alignment modes

on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bowtie2
using apt-get

using aptitude

How To Uninstall bowtie2 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the bowtie2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bowtie2
Uninstall bowtie2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bowtie2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bowtie2
Remove bowtie2 Configurations and Data
To remove bowtie2
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bowtie2
