How To Install boost-build on CentOS 8

What is boost-build
Boost.Build is an easy way to build C++ projects, everywhere. You name your pieces of executable and libraries and list their sources. Boost.Build takes care about compiling your sources with the right options, creating static and shared libraries, making pieces of executable, and other chores – whether you’re using GCC, MSVC, or a dozen more supported C++ compilers – on Windows, OSX, Linux and commercial UNIX systems.
We can use yum or dnf to install boost-build on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install boost-build.
Install boost-build on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install boost-build using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install boost-build
Install boost-build on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install boost-build using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install boost-build
How To Uninstall boost-build on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the boost-build package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove boost-build
