What is boom-boot-grub2
Boom is a boot manager for Linux systems using boot loaders that support the BootLoader Specification for boot entry configuration. Boom requires a BLS compatible boot loader to function systemd-boot project, or Grub2 with the BLS patch (Red Hat Grub2 builds include this support in both Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and Fedora). This package provides integration scripts for grub2 bootloader.
We can use yum or dnf to install boom-boot-grub2 on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install boom-boot-grub2.
Install boom-boot-grub2 on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install boom-boot-grub2 using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install boom-boot-grub2
Install boom-boot-grub2 on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install boom-boot-grub2 using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install boom-boot-grub2
How To Uninstall boom-boot-grub2 on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the boom-boot-grub2 package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove boom-boot-grub2
