How To Install bomstrip on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install bomstrip
on Kali Linux.
What is bomstrip
Bomstrip is a very simple tool that removes BOM’s (byte-order-marks) from UTF-8 files. UTF-8 does not have byte-ordering issues, so there is absolutely no need to have three bytes (the UTF-8-BOM) that do not say anything about the byte-order (since there is nothing to say).
There are three ways to install bomstrip
on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bomstrip Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bomstrip
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bomstrip
Install bomstrip Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bomstrip
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bomstrip
Install bomstrip Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bomstrip
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bomstrip
How To Uninstall bomstrip on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the bomstrip
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bomstrip
Uninstall bomstrip And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bomstrip
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bomstrip
Remove bomstrip Configurations and Data
To remove bomstrip
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bomstrip
Remove bomstrip configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bomstrip
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bomstrip
