In this tutorial we learn how to install bolt on Ubuntu 22.04.

What is bolt

bolt is:

Thunderbolt 3 features different security modes that require devices to be authorized before they can be used. The D-Bus API can be used to list devices, enroll them (authorize and store them in the local database) and forget them again (remove previously enrolled devices). It also emits signals if new devices are connected (or removed). During enrollment devices can be set to be automatically authorized as soon as they are connected. A command line tool, called boltctl, can be used to control the daemon and perform all the above mentioned tasks.

There are three methods to install bolt on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install bolt Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install bolt using apt-get by running the following command:

How To Uninstall bolt on Ubuntu 22.04

To uninstall only the bolt package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove bolt

Remove bolt Configurations and Data

To remove bolt configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge bolt
