How To Install boinc-client on Ubuntu 22.04

What is boinc-client
boinc-client is:
The Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) is a software platform for distributed computing: several initiatives of various scientific disciplines all compete for the idle time of desktop computers. The developers’ web site at the University of Berkeley serves as a common portal to the otherwise independently run projects.
This package contains the BOINC core client program that is required to participate in any project that uses BOINC. A central server distributes work units and collects results via this client. When attaching a local machine to a project, this client will also dynamically download the scientific data and executables to be then wrapped by the BOINC core client.
There are three methods to install boinc-client
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install boinc-client Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install boinc-client
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install boinc-client

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install boinc-client
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install boinc-client
Install boinc-client Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install boinc-client
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install boinc-client
How To Uninstall boinc-client on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the boinc-client
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove boinc-client
Uninstall boinc-client And Its Dependencies
To uninstall boinc-client
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove boinc-client
Remove boinc-client Configurations and Data
To remove boinc-client
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge boinc-client
Remove boinc-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove boinc-client

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge boinc-client
