How To Install bitlbee-common on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install bitlbee-common
on Kali Linux.
What is bitlbee-common
This program can be used as an IRC server which forwards everything you say to people on other chat networks: Jabber (which includes Google Talk), and Twitter.
This package contains common files (mostly documentation) for bitlbee and bitlbee-libpurple.
There are three ways to install bitlbee-common
on Kali Linux . We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bitlbee-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bitlbee-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bitlbee-common
Install bitlbee-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bitlbee-common

by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bitlbee-common
Install bitlbee-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
