How To Install biosyntax-gedit on Ubuntu 20.04

biosyntax-gedit is:
Syntax highlighting for computational biology to bring you intuitively close to your data. BioSyntax supports .sam, .flagstat, .vcf, .fasta, .fastq, .faidx , .clustal, .pdb, .gtf, .bed files & more.
This package provides the bioSyntax plugin for gedit.
Please note: The plugin is not enabled per default, to enable it, please read: /usr/share/doc/biosyntax-gedit/README.Debian
There are three methods to install biosyntax-gedit on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install biosyntax-gedit Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install biosyntax-gedit using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install biosyntax-gedit
Install biosyntax-gedit Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install biosyntax-gedit using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install biosyntax-gedit
Install biosyntax-gedit Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install biosyntax-gedit using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install biosyntax-gedit
How To Uninstall biosyntax-gedit on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the biosyntax-gedit package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove biosyntax-gedit
Uninstall biosyntax-gedit And Its Dependencies
To uninstall biosyntax-gedit and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove biosyntax-gedit
Remove biosyntax-gedit Configurations and Data
To remove biosyntax-gedit configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge biosyntax-gedit
Remove biosyntax-gedit configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove biosyntax-gedit configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge biosyntax-gedit
