How To Install bbmail on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install bbmail on Kali Linux.
What is bbmail
bbmail is:
bbmail is a small mail notifier (displays unread and read mail) that can be used in the Blackbox or Fluxbox window managers. It is similar to other notifiers such as xbiff but with some additional features: * All the colors and gradients can be changed. * Support for multiple mail boxes and provides a menu showing all of them (and their unread/total mail count) * Support for counting mail through external programs, it can be used to notify on POP or IMAP checkboxes with fetchpop/fetchmail * Possibility to ‘copy’ Blackbox toolbar style * Ability to start command when new mail arrives (eg. to play sound)
There are three methods to install bbmail on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bbmail Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install bbmail using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bbmailInstall bbmail Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install bbmail using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bbmailInstall bbmail Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install bbmail using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bbmailHow To Uninstall bbmail on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the bbmail package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bbmailUninstall bbmail And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bbmail and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bbmailRemove bbmail Configurations and Data
To remove bbmail configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bbmailRemove bbmail configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bbmail configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bbmailDependencies
