How To Install batmand on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install batmand on Kali Linux.
What is batmand
batmand is:
B.A.T.M.A.N. (better approach to mobile ad-hoc networking) is a new routing protocol for multi-hop ad-hoc mesh networks.
The approach of the B.A.T.M.A.N algorithm is to divide the knowledge about the best end-to-end paths between nodes in the mesh to all participating nodes. Each node perceives and maintains only the information about the best next hop towards all other nodes. Thereby the need for a global knowledge about local topology changes becomes unnecessary. Additionally, an event-based but timeless flooding mechanism prevents the accruement of contradicting topology information and limits the amount of topology messages flooding the mesh. The algorithm is designed to deal with networks that are based on unreliable links.
There are three methods to install batmand on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install batmand Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install batmand using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install batmandInstall batmand Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install batmand using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install batmandInstall batmand Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install batmand using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install batmandHow To Uninstall batmand on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the batmand package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove batmandUninstall batmand And Its Dependencies
To uninstall batmand and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove batmandRemove batmand Configurations and Data
To remove batmand configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge batmandRemove batmand configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove batmand configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge batmandDependencies
batmand have the following dependencies:
