How To Install baresip-gtk on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install baresip-gtk on Kali Linux.
What is baresip-gtk
baresip-gtk is:
A modular SIP user-agent with support for audio and video, and many IETF standards such as SIP, SDP, RTP/RTCP, STUN, TURN, ICE, and WebRTC.
Supports both IPv4 and IPv6, and the following features.
- Audio codecs: AMR, aptX, EBU ACIP, G.711, G.722, G.726, GSM, L16, MPA, OPUS.
- Video codecs: H.263, H.264, H.265, MPEG4, VP8, VP9.
- Audio drivers: Alsa, GStreamer, JACK, OSS, Portaudio, PulseAudio, sndio.
- Video sources: FFmpeg avformat, Video4Linux2, X11 Grabber.
- Video output: SDL2, X11, DirectFB.
- NAT Traversal: STUN, TURN, ICE, NAT-PMP.
- Media encryption: SRTP, DTLS-SRTP.
- Telemetry messaging: MQTT.
- Control interfaces: JSON-over-TCP.
This package provides a GTK+ front-end for baresip.
There are three methods to install baresip-gtk on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install baresip-gtk Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install baresip-gtk using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install baresip-gtkInstall baresip-gtk Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install baresip-gtk using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install baresip-gtkInstall baresip-gtk Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install baresip-gtk using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install baresip-gtkHow To Uninstall baresip-gtk on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the baresip-gtk package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove baresip-gtkUninstall baresip-gtk And Its Dependencies
To uninstall baresip-gtk and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove baresip-gtkRemove baresip-gtk Configurations and Data
To remove baresip-gtk configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge baresip-gtkRemove baresip-gtk configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove baresip-gtk configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge baresip-gtkDependencies
