In this tutorial we learn how to install baobab on AlmaLinux 8.

What is baobab

Baobab is able to scan either specific directories or the whole filesystem, in order to give the user a graphical tree representation including each directory size or percentage in the branch. It also auto-detects in real-time any change made to your home folder as far as any mounted/unmounted device.

We can use yum or dnf to install baobab on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install baobab.

Install baobab on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install baobab using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install baobab

Install baobab on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install baobab using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install baobab

How To Uninstall baobab on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the baobab package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove baobab
