How To Install avrdude on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install avrdude on CentOS 7.
What is avrdude
AVRDUDE is a program for programming Atmel’s AVR CPU’s. It can program the Flash and EEPROM, and where supported by the serial programming protocol, it can program fuse and lock bits. AVRDUDE also supplies a direct instruction mode allowing one to issue any programming instruction to the AVR chip regardless of whether AVRDUDE implements that specific feature of a particular chip.
We can use yum or dnf to install avrdude on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install avrdude.
Install avrdude on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install avrdude using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install avrdude
Install avrdude on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install avrdude using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install avrdude
How To Uninstall avrdude on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the avrdude package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove avrdude
